SAP NOW Brazil 2024, held on September 3 and 4 at the Transamérica Expo Center in São Paulo, has established itself as one of the main SAP events in Latin America. 

With a strong focus on artificial intelligence (AI), one of the highlights was Joule, SAP’s generative AI platform. 

Bringing together thousands of IT professionals, business leaders and experts, the event showcased the latest technological innovations, such as cloud migration, customer experience, sustainability and ESG. 

The Generative AI Revolution: Joule in Portuguese

One of the event’s major announcements was the arrival of SAP’s generative AI platform (Joule) on the market, in Portuguese, by the end of 2024. 

Initially launched in English last year, Joule revolutionizes user interaction with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. 

The platform’s main function is to allow users to use natural language to communicate with SAP tools, facilitating the use of business solutions. Joule is integrated into all SAP solutions and uses customers’ own data, which provides greater security and personalization. 

In addition, SAP has established partnerships with big names in technology, such as Microsoft and Google, to ensure that generative AI is robust and adapted to business needs. However, the entire process occurs within a secure framework specifically geared towards the business environment.

Cloud Migration with S/4HANA: The Future of Business

Another highly relevant topic was the ongoing migration of companies to the cloud, especially with SAP’s S/4HANA platform. The cloud offers companies significant advantages, such as flexibility, scalability and security. 

During SAP NOW Brazil 2024, it was highlighted that SAP’s cloud platforms are already used by more than 300 million people around the world, and the trend is that this number will continue to grow. 

Migrating to the cloud has proven to be an essential strategy for companies, especially with the approval of tax reform in Brazil at the end of 2023. 

This change in the tax scenario should further drive the adoption of cloud solutions, such as SAP DRC (SAP Document and Reporting Compliance), since these platforms are more agile and effective in dealing with the complex tax requirements that companies will face in the coming years. 

Customer Experience: Personalization as a Competitive Differentiator

Personalizing the customer experience was one of the key points discussed at SAP NOW Brazil 2024. 

Companies are looking for ways to create more personalized journeys for their customers, and SAP presented several solutions that help organizations collect, analyze, and use data effectively. 

The goal is for companies to be able to offer more memorable experiences, from communication to service, with greater efficiency. 

Sustainability and ESG: Commitment to the Future

Sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) criteria were also widely discussed at the event. 

Companies across a range of sectors are increasingly focused on reducing their environmental impact and improving their social performance. SAP presented solutions focused on sustainability, with tools that help companies monitor and optimize their environmental performance. 

These solutions enable organizations to align themselves with more sustainable practices, contributing to a more responsible future, while meeting the growing expectations of investors, customers, and society in general.

The main topics discussed included the presentation of success stories with SAP Document and Reporting Compliance, the presentation of future innovations and the solution’s roadmap, the influence of SAP’s strategy for customers, as well as debates on tax management at a global level.

On the second day of the event, our SAP LATAM Localization & e-invoice Manager, Gustavo Colamussi, gave a presentation showing Origen Tech’s experience in the process of expanding SAP DRC (Document and Reporting Compliance ) to other countries. 

Alongside Terry Blackwell, Manager of Business Integration at Nu Skin Enterprises, Gustavo presented the implementation case of SAP DRC e-invoice for Vietnam, in 2022, after the country’s government announced the mandatory use of electronic invoicing. 

Origen Tech’s collaboration with SAP was key to extending the reach of the SAP DRC product to new regions, allowing companies around the world to adapt seamlessly to local regulations. All this, based on the development of a scalability methodology with just a single business process.
